HPSA is seeking a Full-Time Financial Analyst to support us in day-to-day accounting and financial analysis.
Reports to: Manager of Finance
Description
- Day-to-day operation of the accounting department
- Coordinate issuance of member self-reporting forms (SRF’s), follow up on o/s SRF’s and compile completed ones
- Enter completed SRF’s sales data in the excel workbook and calculate market share %. Invoice members according to annual fee structure timelines.
- Run Aged AR Report, follow up regularly with all members on aged balances and obtain payment eta’s. Escalate as needed to the Finance Manager.
- Send incoming supplier bills for approval, enter approved bills into accounting software, and pay by the due date
- Banking: ensure investments are renewed before the maturity date
- Complete all monthly account reconciliations (bank, etc.)
- Complete HST tax returns by the due date
- Ensure relevant federal and provincial requirements are met, if applicable (EHT, WSIB)
- Enter monthly, quarterly and year-end journal entries, ensuring adequate backup
- Active in Budget/Forecasting exercise
- Complete Board meeting financial schedules and clear review notes by Finance Manager
- Complete financial year-end schedules for external audit on time, answer review notes and help ensure no significant internal control issues exist
- Run variance reports regularly, analyze material variances, provide meaningful explanations, and take action as necessary (e.g. Actuals vs. Budget & Forecast; Budget (Next Year vs. Current)
- Use finance tools and automation necessary to help prevent business issues (e.g. automated warnings on stock levels). Coordinate with Finance Manager as appropriate
- Make recommendations on process improvement
- Subject Matter Expert on electronic expense reimbursement tool
- Assist Finance Manager on financial information required in RFP’s
- Field incoming accounting queries from members, suppliers, management, government/statutory authorities (e.g. CRA, Service Canada)
- Assist in special projects, new provincial programs, and process improvement initiatives for Finance and Leadership Team as appropriate
- Provide regular updates to Finance Manager on priorities (eta’s, status, obstacles, and workaround solutions)
- Maintain a Risk Management mindset
- Maintain and improve online shared finance folders using standard and best practice naming conventions
Education, Experience & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Commerce or a related field
- Previous accounting experience
- Skilled in Microsoft Office suite of products, familiar with CRM tools and presentation software- PowerPoint
- Day-to-day accounting
- QuickBooks Online: Bank reconciliations, Invoicing (including Products & Services Names), AR, AP, GL, JE’s, Reporting
- Excel intermediate (v-lookup, pivot tables, data filtering and sorting)
- Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset and execute where appropriate
- Excellent time management and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented with an ability to multi-task
- Work with a sense of urgency, be a team player, and exhibit a “can do” attitude
- Sound judgement and ability to prioritize
- Team player and calm under pressure
- Great communication skills (verbal and written)
- Non-profit industry is an asset
- Health care industry is an asset
- Experience in RFP’s an asset (preparation, review, analysis)
